Not simply waiting around for the advent of good health, Adventist Health operates 18 hospital systems (with about 2,800 beds) in the western portion of the US. Its health care systems -- sprinkled throughout California, Hawaii, Oregon, and Washington -- also include physicians' clinics and outpatient centers. Additionally, the organization runs more than a dozen home health care agencies and has established a handful of joint-venture nursing homes in California, Oregon, and Washington. Adventist Health maintains strong ties to the Seventh-day Adventist Church but is independently owned. A sister organization, Adventist Health System, operates in the central and southern parts of the country.
