Advantage Rent A Car hopes to gain an advantage by focusing on happy leisure travelers. The company rents cars from about 20 locations in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, and Hawaii, and in about a half-dozen other top leisure markets in the US. It also offers its services through its own Web site and those operated by online travel sites, such as Expedia and Travelocity. Founded with a fleet of five cars by Kenneth and Helen Walker in 1963, the Walkers sold the business to Venture Holding in 2006. Advantage Rent A Car fell on hard times due to the slowdown in pleasure and business travel in 2008 and was acquired out of bankruptcy in 2009 by Hertz Global Holdings.
