And then there was metal halide light. More closely than other technologies, Advanced Lighting Technologies' (ADLT) metal halide simulates sunlight. Through subsidiary Venture Lighting, ADLT makes metal halide lamps and ballast systems. ADLT touts an energy-efficient lineup including lamp components, power supplies, and lamp-making equipment for commercial and industrial needs. Vertically integrated, ADLT's APL Engineered Materials arm makes the metal halide salts used in its products as well as sells the salts to other manufacturers. ADLT's Deposition Sciences makes passive optical telecommunications devices and thin film deposition equipment. The company is owned by private equity firm Saratoga Partners.
