ACTS Company Description
When mom can still live on her own but needs some help, it's time to act. ACTS develops, owns, and operates retirement communities in the Southeastern US. The company's properties feature resort-style amenities in Christian environments (ACTS comes from a Biblical reference). It owns nearly 20 properties, located in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and South Carolina. ACTS builds most of its holdings but does acquire existing communities; it bought its 18th property, a continuing care retirement community in South Carolina, in 2005. The not-for-profit organization was founded as Open Door Estates by a group of Pennsylvania church members in 1971.
