Abviva aims to bring better diagnostics to the fight against breast cancer. The drug developer (formerly known as Genesis Bioventures) is working on proteomics-based cancer diagnostics and therapeutics. Its wholly owned subsidiary Biomedical Diagnostics has developed a blood test, called the Mammastatin Serum Assay, which assesses a person's risk for developing breast cancer. Abviva also has a significant stake in Prion Developmental Laboratories, a developer of diagnostic tools for Mad Cow Disease and a similar neurodegenerative disorder that affects deer and elk called Chronic Wasting Disease.
