Overview
Svensk Exportkredit (also known as Swedish Export Credit, or SEK) helps to float the boats of international trade. SEK provides long-term financing to facilitate the export of capital goods and large-scale infrastructure projects. (Exports account for almost half of Sweden's GNP). Companies that have benefitted from SEK's coffers include Elekta, Ericsson, and Meda. Half of its loans go to doing business in Japan, while the US accounts for about 20%. Subsidiaries include SEK Securities, which intermediates private-placement capital markets products to outside investors, and SEK Advisory Services, which provides independent consulting. SEK was founded in 1962 and is owned by the Swedish government.
