Dr. D. Scott Buchanan was born in Abington, Pennsylvania March 19, 1958. In 1978, he received a Bachelors of Science degree in Physics from Lehigh University, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. This was followed by a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Illinois in 1983. He then did postdoctoral work at the ultra-low temperature laboratory at Los Alamos National Lab, Los Alamos, New Mexico.
